Description
An inter-generational summer chamber music workshop held at CSU Sacramento. Participants rehearse and perform with a different group and piece each day for five days. Each week sees approximately 60 participants, currently ranging from 18 to 94 years old.

Program Successes
Daily performances by groups featuring students, adult amateurs, and current former and current professionals, sometimes with an age range of over 70 years.
For 2018, a new internship program was inaugurated, providing three young emerging professional musicians the opportunity for valuable behind-the-scenes, coaching, presenting and performing experience.

VITA Academy partners with other area organizations to offer professional quality instrumental and vocal performances in formats that engage new audiences with innovative approaches, such as the highly successful Harmony for the Homeless Concert supporting Joshua's House Hospice for the Homeless and providing stipends for an orchestra for the CSUS Opera Program.

Program Successes
- Mod Artists Convergence II project, amplifying the history and status of Oak Park through musical performances incorporating interviews capturing the voices of the neighborhood. The project was supported by a Creative Economy grant and is resulting in a video documentary.
- VITA has partnered with the CSUS School of Music for the past two years to provide stipends for an orchestra for the CSUS Opera performances. In addition to enhancing the performances greatly, this has provided young singers with the experience of singing with an orchestra, young conductors the experience of leading an opera, and young orchestral musicians the experience of opera performance.
- The highly successful Harmony for the Homeless concerts benefitting Joshua's House Hospice for the Homeless. The concert is a collaboration of area musical organizations including the UC Davis Concert Band, San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band and Camerata California, to benefit our community through a wonderful social project.

This program assists emerging young performers (collegiate and post-collegiate) to develop their skills for performance and arts advocacy in formats that serve their community and establish a successful career path.

Description
VITA's Junior Academy includes various programs in Sacramento area schools. Programs include Strings, Choir, and General Music. VITA's Junior Academy school programs are designed to promote development of life skills and teamwork. The program includes instruments, instruction, and interactive concerts. It serves public and private schools in rural and urban areas and trains classroom teachers to support music education of their students.

Program Successes
- Partnership to provide Summer Recorder Program to the Oak Park Community Center
- VITA Academy's six-year relationship with the Esparto schools came to a successful conclusion with the district's hiring of a staff music educator.
- Esparto Elementary School had been without a music education program for more than 30 years prior to VITA Academy's introduction of classes in 2010.
- Building over six years, VITA Academy provided general music instruction to all students in kindergarten through 6th grade plus after-school and pull-out string programs At Esparto Elementary School.
