Description
Mammograms are offered to those who have no insurance. Assistance with a co-pay, should it not be affordable, is also offered. Albie Aware pays for the mammograms which are completed at health facilities in the greater Sacramento area.
Budget
$35,000
Program Successes
During the past four years, Albie Aware has offered free mammograms to approximately 800 women. For many of these women, this is their first mammogram. Should the radiologist find cancer, Albie Aware is there to help patients find medical care. Since many do not have insurance, they definitely need our assistance to move to the next steps.
Description
Breast Health Education Classes are held throughout the greater Sacramento area with emphasis on low-income neighborhoods and organizations that serve the population less likely to receive medical care.
Budget
$4,000
Program Successes
Over the last three years, Breast Health Classes have averaged between 10 and 15 classes per year. For many, this is the first demonstration of breast self-examination, the first step toward catching cancer at an early stage. Also taught are the benefits of diet and exercise with the goal of eliminating cancer entirely.
Description
Diagnostic testing including diagnostic mammograms, ultrasounds, breast MRI's, PET Scans and breast biopsies are provided free of charge to local men and women who are uninsured, under-insured or otherwise cannot afford the tests.
Budget
$67,000
Program Successes
Albie Aware has been able to provide hundreds of local women with breast cancer testing in 2018. Women who would otherwise go without their annual testing or symptomatic testing due to finances were tested and breast cancer was found in early, treatable stages, resulting in saved lives.
