Offers financial assistance and discounts to those who face financial hardships and would otherwise be unable to participate in Center programs.
The sliding scale program has been utilized by 148 participants for spiritual direction, retreats, seminars, and activities during 2016
Through making art participants learn to relax, release, and slow their minds in order to experience the benefits of art as meditation. The Center for Urban Spirituality offers workshops in mandala making, Zentangle, Watercolor, SoulCollage, origami, and a varitey of other paper arts. Weekly Monday evening Studio time is offered for those who wish to explore their own art making as prayer.
Approximately 60 people participated in SoulSpace during 2016. Participants report a greater sense of serenity, belonging, and positive attitude in daily life.
The Center has a Healing Garden available for quiet reflection, meditation and contact with our Sister, Mother Earth.
in 2016 the Healing Garden has been an oasis for about 70 participants during lunch hours, mini-retreats, body prayer, storytelling, and spiritual direction.
Meditation: Led by a facilitator participants are assisted in techniques of breathing and sitting in meditation.
BodyPrayer: Invites participants into modes of praying through bodily motion/ dance and music.
During 2016 Twenty-six participants took part in monthly sessions of meditation and body prayer.
Through conversation, books, and film participants are encouraged to explore and discuss the elements of the Franciscan spiritual tradition.
54 participants attended and partcipated in monthly La Vita Francescana meetings in 2016.
Spiritual Direction is a process that focuses on conscious development of the relationship between person and God either one-to-one or in a small group setting. During monthly meeting the spiritual director helps the person or group notice, name, and respond to the presence, movement, and invitation of The Holy in relationships, ordinary living, and prayer.
Approximately 52 individuals are currently active in our spiritual direction program and meet monthly with one of our four Spiritual Directors
