The Kiwanis Family House "Sponsor-A-Family Program" provides a subsidy to families that cannot afford to pay the per night room rental fee. Since our grand reopening in July 2006, we have offered temporary housing and support to approximately 150 families per month. These families come from all over the country and the world. Only about one-third of these families are able to pay the full per night room rental fee. Therefore, two-thirds of the families who stay with us pay either a reduced rental rate, or they stay for free. We never turn any family away due to their inability to pay the rental fee. Currently, we are subsidizing more than $10,000 per month in lost room rental revenue.
Program Successes
The purpose of the Sponsor-A-Family program is to allow loved ones of patients being treated at UC Davis Medical Center and Shriners Hospitals in Sacramento to stay nearby regardless of whether they can pay all or part of the modest nightly rental fee.

- The program's success is evidenced by the fact that the two-thirds of families that could not afford to pay the full nightly rent have stayed as long as necessary to care for their hospitalized loved ones.
- We estimate that nearly 3,400 families have benefited from this program in the last three years.
The "Friends Of The Kiwanis Family House" program encourages individual donors to pledge ongoing annual support at various levels of giving.

Suggested contribution levels are as follows:
- Copper: $100 - $299
- Silver: $300 - $499
- Gold: $500 - $999
- Platinum: $1,000 or higher

Revenue received from the Friends of Kiwanis Family House program is used to support general House operations and donations are fully tax-deductible.
