Formed in 2011, we began our impact with the CIC Fashion Challenge, giving Designers and aspiring designers a chance at a unique portfolio piece and job placement. In Jan 2012, we launched Media Mentoring, with a screening of "Miss Representation" A Doc on Media Literacy at the Crest Theatre for two nights reaching nearly 1,600 people. The first night we hosted the legislature of CA and High school students from the surrounding region. The second night, we hosted digital content creators including filmmakers, magazine editors, members of the press, TV programmers, and more students. In Feb 2012, Media Mentoring hosted seminars on, "How to get an Agent in Hollywood", "How to Market Yourself as an Entrepreneur", "Film Appreciation", "Social Media Marketing", and more. In Jul 2012, the first CIC Birthday Bash achieved a raise of $817.00 and are still looking for funds to go toward the INDIEWOOD Bus. We want three VW Buses to deliver Digital Media Arts to Sacramento's schools where arts and science programs have been slashed. Children will make movies about science projects and compete for prizes for their media and science labs.

We also became a Strategic Partner with LAUNCH, expanded their program to one week long. We hosted "Silent Movies Scored by Live Bands" at Bows and Arrows where we paired three local Indie bands with three iconic silent films and film historian, Cliff Weimar, for an evening of education and entertainment. In Aug 2012, we held the second Annual CIC Fashion Challenge, Collaborating with five local restaurants creating, "Fashion Pairings". The first place winner, Niv Elliott, has gone on to create her own line and show at more fashion events. In Jan 2013, Media Mentoring hosted, one-on-one mentoring of eight filmmakers to achieve attendance to the American Film Market. In Feb 2013, we mentored three high school students through shooting a documentary created around shooting a Feature film in under 72 hours. The students got to live and work with a real Movie crew as they set the world record for Fastest Shot Feature. In Aug 2013, we launched Sacha Laurin, Fashion Challenge Winner and Media Mentee who appeared at the Oscars in 2015 and Paris Fashion Week 2015.

2014-2017, we continued Media Mentoring and The CIC Fashion Challenge. We added Art Salons and ARTsoup to our programs. In July of 2016 we moved into CLARA Midtown and began a series of events including FEMWINISM, the Ode To Earth Festival, and the Summit for Artistic Infrastructure and Safety. We gave back to Schools at SCUSD by mentoring interns, and installing Designing For A Difference. We would like to bring more programs and content to our Studio at CLARA - and with your help, WE CAN!
We would like to take the next two years to ramp up our budget to afford everything and allow for growth. We are positioned for explosive growth, but are really under capitalized. We welcome all volunteers. We are an all volunteer organization at this time and we appreciate time and resources as well as funds. Please write us if you would like to rent our studio for a photo project, meeting place, classroom, or use our Media services.
Our top needs:
  1. Funding: Program - We are seeking $25,000 for execution of Media Mentoring Projects and Fashion Challenge 2017.
  2. Funding: Unrestricted - We are seeking $500,000 to purchase and renovate a property in midtown for INDIEhäus.
  3. Board Members - We need three new Board Members.
  4. In-Kind Donations - We need food for ARTsoup
  5. Volunteers - We always need grant writers, event volunteers, and marketing help.
Our top priority is to serve as an incubator for artists and artisans to become small business owners. We develop brands and mentor extremely talented people who just need a little push in the business side to become a small business. Artists are entrepreneurs and can be integral in Sacramento's recovery from the Great Recession. We work with Strategic Partners to produce useful tools for Arts like INDIEblush Magazine, INDIEfunTV, and INDIEbus.
