As a board member of Iu Mien Community Services, this work is deeply personal to me.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Iu Mien people in the United States — a milestone that reflects how far we’ve come! But even with that progress, the need in our community remains urgent, especially for our seniors and youth. Organizations like ours exist because of this journey and because that need is still very real today.

Every day, Iu Mien Community Services provides critical support by serving our elders and youth through culturally grounded programs. From senior services and youth engagement to access to essential resources like healthcare, food assistance and social services, we are helping bridge gaps that too often go unseen.

I’ve witnessed firsthand the impact of this work. I’ve seen elders find connection instead of isolation. I’ve seen young people reconnect with their identity and take pride in who they are.

But we cannot do this alone.
