My name is Trevor Robertson, and this is my first year playing in the Capital Cup. I'm honored to be part of it, and I'm playing for a cause that hits close to home. About 10 years ago, my brother was in an accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down. Today he's a member of Helping Empower Adaptive Lives (HEAL), a local nonprofit that gives people with physical disabilities a way to stay active, competitive, and connected — and I've seen firsthand what that's meant for him.

HEAL provides inclusive, low-cost adaptive sports and recreation programs across the Sacramento region. It's not just about sports — it's about independence, community, and giving people a reason to push past what they thought were their limits.

What Your Donation Supports

HEAL runs on donations, and every dollar goes right back into the programs. Here's what the money does:

• Tournaments and events — HEAL hosts and travels to adaptive sports tournaments, including wheelchair basketball through the National Wheelchair Basketball Association. Entry fees, travel, and event costs add up fast.
• Youth programs — Getting kids with disabilities into sports early changes the whole trajectory of their lives.
• Adaptive equipment — Sports wheelchairs can cost thousands of dollars each. HEAL maintains a loaner inventory so cost is never the reason someone sits on the sidelines.
• Transportation — HEAL needs a truck to haul chairs and equipment to practices, clinics, and tournaments. Right now, moving gear is one of their biggest logistical challenges.
• Basic support — Food, fuel, safety gear, and the everyday costs of keeping programs free or low-cost for members.

I'm playing three days of golf. My brother and his teammates work a lot harder than that every week. If you can chip in, every dollar you give goes to support HEAL's programs — and if our team wins the Capital Cup, HEAL shares in the $100,000 prize fund on top of it.

About the Capital Cup

The Capital Cup adapts the historic Ryder Cup format — steeped in tradition — to promote community pride, healthy competition, and raise money for the Sacramento region's most deserving charities. Each year, leaders from the Sacramento region are divided into two teams for an exciting 3-day golf competition. Donors have the opportunity to support their favorite player (or their favorite charity), as each player is competing to benefit his or her favorite charitable organization. The winning team's designated charities share a prize fund of $100,000! The Capital Cup has raised more than $18 million over its history.
