Investing in Community

Imagine a community where encountering difference isn't something you navigate — it's something you participate in. Where the exchange of ideas, art, and culture is multi-directional, and where that dynamic exchange creates understanding, uplift, and keen awareness that we are genuinely responsible to one another.

That's the vision at the heart of International House Davis. And it's why I serve and why I give.

I serve as IHouse Board Chair because I believe in this vision deeply, and because I know that IHouse as a stable, community-based organization, which is genuinely invested in our region —can make this kind of community possible.  

IHouse activates a dynamic, living exchange of creativity, perspectives, and ideas that enriches this region — Davis, West Sacramento, Woodland, the broader Sacramento Valley — and links it to a wider global community. We know we're doing our job right when people don't just attend a program but begin to see themselves as active contributors to community life. When a sense of our collective responsibility to one another becomes palpable, and actionable. When being skillful across difference — across the complexity of our diverse global realities — becomes something we practice and achieve together.

This is what IHouse is working toward. What it's committed volunteer founders did for the past 40 years, and what we contributors (funders, volunteers, members, staff, and board) will continue to do into the future.
