I believe in the power of representation and the potential of our youth. The Sojourner Truth African Heritage Museum (SOJO) Youth Docent Program empowers the next generation of Sacramento leaders.
This Big Day of Giving, we are focusing all of our efforts on the Youth Docent Program. This initiative teaches high school students, college students, and young adults to be museum ambassadors. In addition to studying African American history and art; they lead tours, create marketing content, and learn directly from professionals like Executive Director Shonna McDaniels and Lead Docent Judah Pimentel.
Why your gift matters: SOJO provides a monthly stipend of $500 to each docent. This stipend allows young people from underserved communities to prioritize their professional development and community service as an alternative to a typical entry-level job.
Please join me in supporting these incredible young people. By investing in a docent, you are investing in the leadership, independence, and self-knowledge of Sacramento’s future.
Thank you for your generosity!
