It was late 2007 when I decided to enlist as a casa volunteer and was sworn in at court in January of 2008. My first case was a 10-year-old boy that stole my heart and set me on the journey to be associated with CASA of Placer, Yuba and Sutter for the last 18 years. During this time, I have seen the good, the bad and the extremely ugly things adults can do to children. I have been a CASA, a youth mentor, a family mentor, and even tried my hand as a foster parent. To say it is challenging at times would be an understatement but the joy and love that comes out of helping these kiddo's see that adults can be caring and consistent is more than enough.

For those of you in the Sacramento area you may remember the slogan from Ticket to Dream: Not everyone can be a foster parent, but everyone can help a foster child!  Here is my request, please join me in helping local foster children through the Sacramento Community Foundations Big Day of Giving. The minimum donation is $10 and we have matching donors that will match gifts up to $25,000!
