Heather’s Big Day of Giving

Single Mom Strong is near and dear to my heart. As a single mother to two beautiful daughters, it took a village to help me along the way. Single Mom Strong's mission is to empower single mothers and their children through enrichment, encouragement and educational programs. It takes a village to raise a child, and for single mothers, we are that village.

In Sacramento County, 1 in 4 children under 18 live in single-parent households. Studies show that these families are more likely to face depression, chronic stress, substance abuse, and poor overall health. 

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

At Single Mom Strong, we believe every mom deserves a community to walk alongside her. That’s why we’ve created a powerful, local blueprint for change that wraps single mothers and their children in resources, love, and connection.

What we do:

Foster Connection: We know community is everything. Through Mom’s Night Out, Mother & Child Events, Men’s Mentoring for children of single moms, and more, we enrich the lives of single moms and their children by fostering healthy, deep, and lasting relationships.

Increase Economic Stability: Our Career Advancement programs offer practical tools, including Career Coaching, access to professional clothing in our Career Clothing Closet (where single moms shop for free!) and Career Exploration events, which provide pathways to careers with high earning potential.

High-Quality, Affordable Childcare: EmpowerME Preschool & Childcare programs make quality early childhood education accessible to all young children by making preschool affordable, even on a single-income budget.  The same level of quality and affordability is extended to serve school-age children on days when schools are closed. The values-based curriculum, home-like environment, and culturally responsive programming at EmpowerME encourage self-expression and emphasize social-emotional development.
