Ron Perry Raising Funds to Feed the Hungry

Twin Lakes Food Bank has been serving guests and looking for ways to love with dignity for 40 years now. From ensuring that guests have private and comfortable places to wait for food, to a guest-choice service model, to warm and friendly volunteers who know their names, every moment of a food bank visit is designed to build community.

Over the years, I have met hundreds of guests, and each have their own story. Young parents attempting to pay off medical bills after sudden job loss have filled their car with groceries as they try to stay out of overwhelming debt. Grandmothers have turned to the food bank when they take emergency custody of their grandchildren and are trying to feed them on social security and CalFresh. Hardworking dads pick up after-lunch snacks for growing teenagers when the month feels longer than the paycheck. And seniors rely on weekly and monthly deliveries to bring groceries when declining health and fixed incomes keep them from getting the food they desperately need.

In uncertain times, the need for the food bank continues to grow. As food and gas prices continue to rise, many are one unforeseen circumstance away from wondering how to pay for groceries. When the accident happens, the job is lost, the medical appointments are scheduled, the money for food can quickly slip away.
