As many of you know Indie and Tripp are Therapy Dogs. Indie over 5 years and Tripp 1 year. One of the programs we are passionate about & regularly volunteer for is with CASA of Placer, Yuba & Sutter's K9s 4 Kids.
CASA is a nonprofit organization serving children and families across Placer, Yuba, and Sutter Counties. In addition to the CASA Program, they offer Be Bold, Family Services, and K9s 4 Kids—all aimed at supporting youth and families impacted by trauma, instability, or the child welfare system.
K9s 4 Kids is a unique program that brings these special dogs into local group homes, the hallways of court, the Juvenile Detention Facility, and approved community events. In these high-stress environments, youth are often navigating trauma, uncertainty, and isolation. Indie and Tripp along with the other dogs in the program offer something many of these youths haven't experienced in a long time: unconditional comfort, love, and trust.
Indie and Tripp offer the simplest connection, a gentle nuzzle, a wagging tail, a moment of calmness, a distraction. My hope is that my boys, Indie and Tripp, can open a door to healing to each and every youth they snuggle up to.
