The Sacramento Scottish Rite Childhood Language Center, established in 1987, is housed in the Scottish Rite Masonic Center at the corner of H Street and Carlson Drive (across the street from the entrance to California State University, Sacramento). The Center serves children between the ages of 18 months and 12 years of age, residing within the Sacramento Scottish Rite Bodies of Freemasonry. The service area extends from Sacramento north to the Oregon State line and east to the Nevada state line. These services are provided by clinicians who must have a Master of Art Science and/or Doctoral Degree in Speech Language Pathology, a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language Association and a License through the State of California. The Center also serves as a training site, providing internships for University students studying in the field of Speech Language Pathology. In 2023, we evaluated and treated 104 children in our program, providing a total of 3,260 hours of therapy during 3,090 sessions, graduated 44, and currently maintain a waiting list of 59 children.
The Sacramento Scottish Rite Childhood Language Center provides diagnostic and treatment services for children with delays in the acquisition of speech language and literacy skills. These services are provided free of charge. Masonic affiliation is not required.
Our Language Learning Center relies on donations like yours for us to operate. We currently maintain a waiting list of children needing our services, and our goal is to expand our operations to provide more prompt care. Additional funding would help us reach that goal through:
Acquiring new computer equipment and appropriate software applications
Expanding office and treatment space
Funding clinicians, reception, legal, and accounting staff
Purchasing newer and more functional chairs and desks in our waiting area and treatment rooms, for the comfort of our children and their families
