The Vanessa Herold Arnaud Memorial Foundation was established in 2025 to honor the memory and legacy of Dr. Vanessa Herold Arnaud, a French and French Literature professor at Sacramento State University. Guided by compassion and rooted in Vanessa's legacy, our mission is to make global learning more accessible for students who dream of exploring the world.
Through study abroad scholarships and educational support, we reduce financial barriers and open doors to transformative international experiences. Our founding initiative, the Vanessa Herold Arnaud Legacy Scholarship, supports students studying in Birr, Ireland. We are also expanding our impact with Global Learning Scholarships and a grant supporting Sacramento State's World Languages Day, both launching in late 2026.
As a volunteer-run organization, 100% of the passion behind our work goes directly toward empowering students to expand their horizons, discover new perspectives, and step into the world with confidence and curiosity — just as Dr. Arnaud did throughout her career.

As a growing, all-volunteer foundation, our greatest need is unrestricted funding to expand our scholarship programs. Every dollar raised goes directly toward reducing financial barriers for students pursuing study abroad and international learning that support the Vanessa Herold Arnaud Legacy Scholarship, the Global Learning Scholarship, and our grant to Sacramento State's World Languages Day. We're working to grow each of these programs in 2027, increasing both award amounts and the number of students we can reach.
We also welcome connections with donors, partners, and board members who share our commitment to accessible global education.
The Foundation is committed to making global learning accessible to all students, regardless of financial circumstance, and to reviewing scholarship applications fairly and equitably.
