Initially chartered as the Folsom Lioness Club in 1980, we became Folsom Lake Lions in 2002. We have been instrumental in leading and supporting many community service projects which have improved the quality of life in and around Folsom. One significant venture has been the Lion's Sight Program. We collect used eyeglasses from many optometrists in this area, and they are then donated to the Lions Eyeglasses Recycle project which is supported by the Folsom State Prison. We also work with inmate teams in Folsom Prison who crochet a wide variety of items for the community. We provide the yarn from donations, and in turn they give us all the items they make for us to donate to organizations in the community. We also support agencies whose work benefits children and our communities through contribution of time and financial support. Some of those groups are Sacramento Children's Home and Sacramento Crisis Nurseries; Maryhouse; Mustard Seed School; St. John's Shelter for women and children; Powerhouse Ministries; Twin Lakes Food Bank; Folsom Lake College food closet; Special Kids Day; Foster Kids; and Feed My Starving Children; to name a few.
