Lighthouse Visionary Group – Infrastructure for Stability & Community
Lighthouse Visionary Group currently serves individuals in sober and transitional housing who are rebuilding their lives after substance use disorder, homelessness, and justice involvement. While we provide safe, structured housing and accountability, critical infrastructure gaps limit our ability to fully support long-term stability and community reintegration.
To meet the growing needs of our residents and expand our impact, we are seeking funding for three essential investments: a transportation van, industrial kitchen equipment, and the development of an on-site community center — the “Barnasium.”
1. Transportation Van: Removing Barriers to Employment & Care
Reliable transportation remains one of the largest barriers to stability for our residents. Many individuals enter our program without a vehicle, driver’s license, or access to dependable public transit. This directly impacts:
Employment opportunities
Access to outpatient treatment and medical appointments
Court compliance
Educational and vocational training
Community engagement and recovery meetings
A dedicated program van would allow us to provide structured transportation support, increasing employment placement rates, improving treatment compliance, and reducing the risk of relapse due to logistical barriers.
Transportation is not a convenience — it is a critical pathway to independence.
2. Industrial Kitchen Equipment: Building Skills & Sustainability
Food insecurity and limited culinary infrastructure present both a practical and developmental challenge within recovery housing.
Upgrading to industrial-grade kitchen equipment will allow us to:
Provide structured meal preparation programs
Offer food handler certification and culinary job training
Prepare meals efficiently for a large residential population
Host community meals and recovery-focused events
Explore small social enterprise opportunities to sustain programming
An industrial kitchen creates more than meals — it creates job skills, responsibility, collaboration, and self-worth.
3. The “Barnasium”: On-Site Community & Wellness Center
Recovery requires more than abstinence; it requires connection, purpose, and belonging.
We are seeking support to develop an on-site community center, referred to as the “Barnasium,” which will serve as a safe, structured gathering space for:
Recovery meetings
Life skills workshops
Employment readiness classes
Peer mentoring
Physical wellness activities
Community-building events
Many individuals in recovery experience isolation, trauma, and fractured support systems. The Barnasium will provide a central hub for positive engagement, pro-social connection, and structured programming — all of which are proven protective factors against relapse and recidivism.
This space will transform our housing program from a place people live into a community where people grow.
