The California Black Health Network (CBHN) was founded in 1978 and established as a 501(c)(3) in 1983. From the very beginning, CBHN has been dedicated to improving the health and well being of Black Californians.

Today, CBHN has become the voice and trusted resource for advancing health equity for Black Californians, and is the only Black-led, statewide organization dedicated to advancing health equity for all African Americans and Black Immigrants. CBHN’s work is guided by its health equity framework, which encompasses racial justice, social justice, and environmental justice. Through its outreach, education, advocacy/policy and programmatic work, CBHN aims to create a California where every African American and Black Immigrant has the opportunity to live long healthy lives, free from violence, racism, and health inequities.

Giving Activity

Mission

To ensure that all Black Californians, regardless of their education, socio-economic class, zip code, sexual orientation, gender identity, homelessness, or immigration status have access to high quality and equitable primary and behavioral healthcare, and avoid unnecessarily succumbing to disease.

Needs

Our greatest need is unrestricted funding to build capacity, ensure long-term sustainability, and cover general operational costs and costs of specific programs.

Your generosity is more than a donation; it's a powerful statement of solidarity, compassion, and commitment to a healthier, more equitable future for all.

Your support advances our mission and supports innovative programs to expand our reach and make a greater impact statewide. It helps us build the internal infrastructure, resources, and capacity to elevate our impact through our outreach, education, and programmatic work. It enables us to lead and drive advocacy and policy initiatives to advance health equity for Black Californians, increase access to quality equitable health care, and improve life expectancy for Black Californians.
